Land managers need accurate, science-based information to make complex conservation decisions. They rely on not only the facts, but how the facts are conveyed. Are facts placed in context to the biological system, or are they presented in an inflammatory manner? Imidacloprid treatments to conserve hemlocks provide an example of how the presentation of facts can help or hinder conservation efforts. Imidacloprid movement into non-target herbaceous plants will be used as an example of presenting facts in and out of biological context. The audience will be left with the questions which is the right approach, where do we draw the lines, and how can we all do better?
