An unknown species of Chelonarium (Coleoptera: Chelonariidae) was discovered in Southern Florida. Identification required an examination of West Indian taxa. The nine species currently described from the West Indian proved impossible to distinguish without a revision of the West Indian members of the genus. Examination of types and other material revealed eight valid previously named species, fourteen new species, and one new synonym. The unknown species found in Florida belongs to an undescribed species from Martinique in the lesser Antilles, and is considered an introduced species in Florida.
