The Colección Entomológica Tecnológico de Antioquia - CETdeA is based in Medellín, Colombia; it is committed to documenting and studying Diptera belonging to the families Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Fanniidae, and Muscidae. Nearly 89,000 specimens pinned or preserved in alcohol, including ten holotypes, are housed; new fly species will likely be discovered during the curing process of the remaining specimens in the following years. We obtain DNA sequences of molecular markers complementing morphological identification and are deposited in public databases such as GenBank and BOLD. The flies deposited comes from several localities of all-natural regions of Colombia (Andean, Caribbean, Pacific, Orinoquia, and Amazonia). Nowadays, 2,3000 neotropical specimens have been documented using specialized software (Specify 6). The collection is currently involved in a massive systematization process to implement data remote access and be an active part of global biological information and data networks, as SIB Colombia (National network of data on biodiversity) and Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). The team of lecturers, scientists, undergraduate and graduate students associated with the collection are the primary users by developing molecular, ecological, morphological, taxonomical, and practical studies in legal, forensics, biological, environmental, and educational. The CETdeA is a realistic ideal to incorporate biological information and empirical data in the educational progress of learners living in an outstanding biodiverse country.
