Rove beetles (Staphylinidae) are a mega diverse family of insects found worldwide in almost every habitat. The subfamily Aleocharinae are particularly poorly known, and very little work has been carried out on this group in the West Indies. After assessing specimens held in West Indian Beetle Fauna Project Collection at Montana State University, we present an undescribed genus of Bolitocharina collected from two high altitude regions of the Dominican Republic. Unique diagnostic characters including the shrunken elytra, lack of functioning wings, the mouthparts and the distinctive male and female genitalia split this from other closely related genera.
