The USDA ARS Ag100Pest (https://scinet.usda.gov/working-groups/ag100pest) and i5K Community (http://i5k.github.io/) sequencing initiatives employing some of the most recent genome sequencing and assembly methods.  These advances in generating reference quality assembles are poised to transform the scope of entomological research to address current and future challenges.
