Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens mosquitoes are important vectors of arboviral pathogens of public health concern. Due to the current increase in insecticide resistance, fungal entomopathogens have attracted interest as environmentally friendly alternatives to mosquito control. This study compares the susceptibility of Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens mosquitoes to infection by different fungal entomopathogens. This seminar will also discuss the molecular interactions that occur during infection and the potential mechanisms of mosquito resistance to infection by this entomopathogen.
