Morphological differences in the light organs of flashing and non-flashing fireflies (Coleoptera: Lampyridae)

Using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) data, we assess morphological differences in the tracheal system across life stages in the firefly Photinus pyralis. This allows for comparisons in a 3-dimensional, nondestructive view that better represents how this system appears in situ when compared to traditional microscopy techniques.
