Entomologist US Environmental Protection Agency Washington, District of Columbia
Registering a pesticide is a scientific, legal, and administrative process. In evaluating a pesticide registration application, the US EPA assesses a wide variety of potential human health and environmental effects before reaching a regulatory decision. This presentation will provide a general overview of EPA's review and decision-making process for registering a pesticide product and its uses. We will discuss what information must be submitted to the Agency when applying for a pesticide product registration. The presentation also outlines how the process for reviewing pesticide applications can vary based on what type of pesticide is being registered and that chemical’s or product’s previous registration history. Finally, we will review the importance of correctly formatting data submissions to avoid delays or rejection of application packages.
