Urban Agriculture Specialist Cornell University Brooklyn, New York
Twospotted spider mite (TSSM) is the most important pest of tomatoes and cucumbers on urban farms in New York City -- unlike the surrounding region, where it is rarely a pest of those crops in the field. Why is TSSM so prevalent in urban agriculture? How might it be managed in these unique growing spaces? This session shares the premise and results of a SARE Partnership Grant that explores these questions, with an emphasis on readily adopted approaches, including releasing and attracting natural enemies.
