The GLOBE Observer citizen science mobile app is being used to locate and record mosquito oviposition sites and descriptions of land cover in the field. These data are being used to identify and describe fine-scale spatial heterogeneity that include microclimatic pockets that support mosquito oviposition sites. We pair the field based observations with colocated high resolution satellite imagery and are using these data to improve techniques to identify spectral features that are indicative of potential mosquito habitats. This presentation describes the data set obtained during the 2020 and 2021 summer field seasons in the U.S., our preliminary findings, open data access, and collaboration opportunities.
