The genus Ancylotropus (Hymenoptera: Eucharitidae) are a group of ant parasitoids distributed throughout the palaeotropical region. Six species of Ancylotropus have been described from Southeast Asia and Madagascar: A. cariniscutis Cameron, A. ivondroi (Risbec), A. keralensis Girish Kumar and Narendran, A. manipurensis (Clausen), A. montanus (Girault), and A. seyrigi (Risbec). In addition, about 20 undescribed species tentatively placed in Ancylotropus are known from Africa. The species from Africa, Madagascar, and Southeast Asia are morphologically distinct, and in recent molecular analyses they are not monophyletic. This suggests that they may be three genera, of which new genera may be recognized in Africa and Madagascar. In this study, two ribosomal genes (28S D2, 28S D3-5) and two mitochondrial genes (COI-nj, COII) were sequenced from 76 taxa to assess both the monophyly and determine whether new genera need to be recognized and described.
