Welcome to the UMD Department of Entomology! Our graduate program offers MS & PhD degrees with specialization in basic/applied research: IPM & biological control of agricultural, urban, & forest pests; ecology, conservation, restoration, & climate change; pollinator science & apiculture; evolution, systematics, & evo-devo; and genetics, genomics, & medical entomology. Degree requirements include core entomology courses, seminars, electives, and completion of a thesis/dissertation project. All students receive financial support, including salary, benefits, & tuition remission. We're located in College Park, MD, close to many opportunities for collaborative research (USDA, NIH, Smithsonian, etc.) as well as diverse careers paths (academia, federal & state agencies, private industry, etc.).
